Mario Nishihara
Mario Nishihara is an Event Coordinator for the Greater Cleveland Sports Commission (GCSC). In this role, Mario works on recruiting for the World School Games and the Continental Cup Basketball Tournament by developing and maintaining an extensive database with athletes and team information from all over the world. She is the primary liaison for event participants and interested delegations. In addition to this role, she will be assisting the Vice President of Event Management with venue selection/operations and hospitality.
Mario was born in Westchester, New York and because of various travels was raised in Canada, Germany and Japan. She graduated from Ithaca College (Ithaca, NY) with a Bachelors of Science in Sports Media where she also competed in Track & Field.
During her time at Ithaca College, she was actively involved with different organizations such as Public Relations Student Society of American (PRSSA), American Marketing Association (AMA), International Club and Student to Student Mentoring Program. While she was a student, she interned at the National Basketball Association Japan, as the Guest Liaison; Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, as a Flash Quote Reporter and the Major League Baseball Japan, as the assistant Event Coordinator for the World Baseball Classic.
Currently, Mario lives in the heart of downtown Cleveland where she enjoys networking with young professionals in the area by spending time volunteering with different organizations. Mario is honored to be part of an amazing organization like the GCSC. She truly enjoys having an array of responsibilities on two of the most exciting events and has a wondeful team to work with.
