Mountain biking enthusiasts will need to mark September 11-13 on their calendars, as NEOCycle presented by Ohio Savings Bank will feature two legends of the sport and an expansive mountain biking demo area. The cycling festival’s The Hub at Edgewater Park presented by Subaru will showcase both Gary Fisher and Jeff Lenosky and include Ray’s MTB Adventure Park presented by Team Wendy.
Fisher is considered the “Father of Mountain Biking” and is credited with pioneering the first mountain bikes in the 1970s. The San Francisco native will be on-site for the entirety of NEOCycle weekend and will participate in several of the races and rides. Fisher will also conduct a question and answer session on Saturday at 4:30 in the Getaway tent.
Lenosky brings his mountain biking and freestyle demo shows to NEOCycle’s The Hub at Edgewater Park on Saturday. Lenosky is a national champion in mountain bike freeriding and trials riding. He is considered a pioneer of mountain bike street and urban riding and holds the world record for highest bunny hop on a mountain bike. Lenosky will perform his demo and stunt shows Saturday, Sept. 12 at 1:30 p.m., 3:30 p.m., and 5:45 p.m.
In addition to the participation of Fisher and Lenosky, NEOCycle will feature Ray’s MTB Adventure Park presented by Team Wendy. A special section of The Hub at Edgewater Park, Ray’s MTB Adventure will be designed by Ray Petro – founder of Cleveland’s world-famous Ray’s Indoor Mountain Bike Park. The free Adventure Park will feature beginner, novice and advanced sections. Several mountain biking vendors will also be on-site offering demos and gear. Ray’s MTB Adventure Park will be open both Saturday, September 12 and Sunday, September 13 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The nation’s first and only urban cycling festival, NEOCycle combines five unique races and rides with live music at an action-filled festival at The Hub at Edgewater Park on the beautiful shores of Lake Erie. NEOCycle rides and races include the NEOCycle Night Ride presented by Cuyahoga Community College; MCPc Fundo presented by Bike Cleveland; Edgewater Cyclocross; Criterium; and Velodrome presented by C.A. Litzler Co., Inc. The Hub at Edgewater Park will feature the NEOCycle Music Fest presented by ERC, which will be headlined by Jr. Jr. (formerly known as Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr.). The Hub will also feature Ray’s Mountain Bike Adventure Zone presented by Team Wendy, cycling and outdoor lifestyle vendors, a beer garden and Cleveland’s famous food trucks.
