In 2017, nearly 30,000 fans packed FirstEnergy Stadium as Cleveland hosted to a group stage of the prestigious CONCACAF Gold Cup. With a goal to get 40,000 in attendance, Northeast Ohio is excited to welcome back the doubleheader on Saturday, June 22, 2019.
FirstEnergy Stadium, home of the Cleveland Browns, has again been selected as a host venue for the 2019 CONCACAF Gold Cup, as announced May 16, 2018 by the Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football (Concacaf). This marks the second time the international men’s soccer tournament will have games in Northeast Ohio after Cleveland hosted a doubleheader featuring the U.S. Men’s National Team, Martinique, Nicaragua and Panama during the final leg of Group B play in 2017.
Through the partnership of the Cleveland Browns and Greater Cleveland Sports Commission, Cleveland is one of 15 venues named as a host site for the 15th edition of the CONCACAF Gold Cup. More details – including dates, times and competing teams – will be announced at a later date after all qualifying teams are determined.
This event will provide an estimated $4,000,000 in economic impact to Northeast Ohio.
