GREATER CLEVELAND SPORTS COMMISSION ANNOUNCES AWARD WINNERS FOR 20TH GREATER CLEVELAND SPORTS AWARDS

CLEVELAND 20th Greater Cleveland Sports Awards presented by Medical Mutual and Huntington honored the best of Cleveland sports on Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2020 at the Renaissance Cleveland Hotel Grand Ballroom in Downtown Cleveland. Mike Golic, ESPN co-host, former NFL Defensive lineman and Northeast Ohio native, led an iconic night in Cleveland sports to a sold-out crowd of over 1,300 guests.

Highlights from tonight’s show include Stipe Miocic, UFC Heavyweight Champion, receiving Professional Athlete of the Year Award presented by FOX Sports Ohio from Kevin Stefanski, Cleveland Browns head coach. Honors were previously awarded to LeBron James, Corey Kluber and Baker Mayfield.

Daniel “Boobie” Gibson, former Cleveland Cavalier, and Mark Price, Cavs legend, joined Mike Fratello, Price’s former coach, on stage to present Collegiate Athlete of the Year Awards presented by H. Jack’s Plumbing & Heating to Naz Hillmon and Jordin James.

Additionally, Jay Crawford, former sports awards host and WKYC broadcaster, conducted a heartfelt interview on stage with Skylar Scarnecchia, Cleveland Clinic Sports Health Courage Award recipient. To see her full story, click here.

Following an appearance by Tom Hamilton, Cleveland Indians broadcaster, Paul Dolan, Cleveland Indians Owner/Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, joined the 2014 Lifetime Achievement recipient on stage to receive this year’s Lifetime Achievement Award presented by Cuyahoga Community College which was presented to The Dolan Family.

The culmination of the night was highlighted with the 2019 Best Moment in Cleveland Sports presented by JACK Entertainment was awarded to Chris Antonetti, Cleveland Indians president, for an MLB All-Star Summer, which was presented by Charles Nagy, former Indians pitcher and three-time All-Star.

Professional Athlete of the Year presented by FOX Sports Ohio
Stipe Miocic, Heavyweight Champion, UFC

Greater Cleveland Sports Awards is the premier annual sports fundraiser that supports Greater Cleveland Sports Commission and celebrates Cleveland’s professional, collegiate and high school sports achievements. The event featured appearances from national sports celebrities along with a formal dinner and awards ceremony honoring the top athletic moments from 2019.
