CLEVELAND – 21st Greater Cleveland Sports Awards presented by Medical Mutual and Ancora announces award finalists in five categories for Greater Cleveland Sports Commission’s annual fundraiser. Winners from each category will be announced live during 21st Greater Cleveland Sports Awards which will be aired on Thursday, Mar. 4, 2021 at 7 p.m. on WKYC TV 3, wkyc.com and SportsTime Ohio.

Finalists were selected by local sports and media outlets as well as an awards committee who chose outstanding athletes from Northeast Ohio’s following counties: Ashtabula, Cuyahoga, Geauga, Lake, Lorain, Medina, Portage, Stark and Summit.
The finalists in the following categories were based on the highest number of votes: male and female high school athlete of the year, male and female collegiate athlete of the year and professional athlete of the year.
Male High School Athlete of the Year presented by University Hospitals Sports Medicine
- Tyler Hong, Saint Ignatius, Swimming
- Joe Labas, Brecksville-Broadview Heights High School, Football
- Kentrell Marks, Valley Forge High School, Football
Female High School Athlete of the Year presented by University Hospitals Sports Medicine
- Paige Floriea, Mentor High School, Track & Field
- Ella Gilson, Hawken School, Cross Country, Track & Field and Swimming
- Shelby Sallee, Strongsville High School, Soccer
Male Collegiate Athlete of the Year presented by H. Jack's Plumbing & Heating Co. "The Super Plumber!"
- Dustin Crum, Kent State University, Football (Midview High School)
- Dillon Dingler, The Ohio State University, Baseball (Jackson High School)
- Michael Rose, Iowa State University, Football (Brecksville-Broadview Heights High School)
Female Collegiate Athlete of the Year presented by H. Jack's Plumbing & Heating Co. "The Super Plumber!"
- Kelly Brennan, Baldwin Wallace University, Cross Country (Walsh Jesuit High School)
- Camryn Brown, High Point University, Basketball (Revere High School)
- Naz Hillmon, University of Michigan, Basketball (Gilmour Academy)
Professional Athlete of the Year presented by SportsTime Ohio
- Shane Bieber, pitcher, Cleveland Indians
- Myles Garrett, defensive end, Cleveland Browns
- Collin Sexton, guard, Cleveland Cavaliers
Sports Awards is the premier annual sports fundraiser supporting Greater Cleveland Sports Commission. With consideration to current events, this year’s show will not only feature the traditional celebration of athletic achievements, but also themes of humanity, courage and community focus throughout the show.
The event will air as an hour-long televised special produced by NPi Audio Visual Solutions. It will feature award finalists, videos and guest appearances from current and former national sports celebrities, with the support from the Cleveland Browns, Cleveland Cavaliers and Cleveland Indians.
Recipients of additional awards for 21st Greater Cleveland Sports Awards are as follows:
- Cleveland Clinic Sports Medicine Courage Award – Camryn Colahan, Vermilion High School, volleyball & basketball
- Humanitarian of the Year presented by Union Home Mortgage – to be announced
- Best Moment in Cleveland Sports presented by JACK Entertainment - to be announced
In conjunction with the televised show, this year’s event will feature a high-value Silent Auction presented by Physicians Ambulance featuring coveted sports memorabilia and experiential packages such as 2021 NFL Draft VIP experience, Nemocolin Resort package with private airfare, Kobe Bryant NBA Championship replica ring display and more. Fans are welcome to bid online now through the conclusion of the show on Mar. 4, 2021 at 8 p.m. EST.
Additionally, GCSC’s 50/50 Raffle presented by First National Bank is available online. Raffle tickets are available for purchase at clevelandsports.org/5050 at the following levels: $10 for 5 tickets, $20 for 20 tickets and $50 for 100 tickets. Raffle ends on Mar. 5, 2021 at 8 p.m. EST. Winner receives 50% of net proceeds, remaining 50% benefits local nonprofit GCSC.
Packages and tickets for Sports Awards are available for purchase online. Package purchasers will receive access to an exclusive ticketed pre-show featuring local and national sports celebrities which will be streamed live at 6 p.m., prior to the Sports Awards televised special aired on WKYC and SportsTime Ohio.
