CLEVELAND, OH (Oct. 1, 2025) – Cleveland Guardians third baseman José Ramírez has been nominated for Professional Athlete of the Year, presented by Physicians Ambulance, at the 26th Greater Cleveland Sports Awards, which will take place on Feb. 5, 2026, at Rocket Arena.
The Greater Cleveland Sports Awards, presented by Ancora and Minutemen Workforce Solutions, is the premier annual sports fundraising event in Northeast Ohio, celebrating the best in local sports and benefiting the Greater Cleveland Sports Commission. The Professional Athlete of the Year Award honors the most outstanding athlete who plays for a professional team in Cleveland.
Ramírez, a cornerstone of the Guardians franchise, continues to demonstrate elite performance on and off the field. In the 2025 MLB season, he once again led the team in key offensive categories while earning praise for his leadership, community involvement, and consistent excellence. His nomination recognizes not only his athletic achievements but also his impact as a role model in Northeast Ohio.
Nominees from the Cleveland Browns and Cleveland Cavaliers will be announced in the coming weeks. Fans will decide the winner when voting opens later this year.
