CLEVELAND, OH – Nov. 24, 2025 – Cleveland Cavaliers center Evan Mobley has been nominated for Professional Athlete of the Year, presented by Physicians Ambulance, at the 26th Greater
Cleveland Sports Awards, which will take place on Feb. 5, 2026, at Rocket Arena.
The Greater Cleveland Sports Awards, presented by Ancora and Minutemen Workforce Solutions, is the premier annual sports fundraising event in Northeast Ohio, celebrating the best in local sports
and benefiting the Greater Cleveland Sports Commission. The Professional Athlete of the Year Award honors the most outstanding athlete who plays for a professional team in Cleveland.
The 2024-25 NBA Defensive Player of the Year continues to solidify his status as one of the league’s most dynamic young stars. Known for his elite defensive impact, multifaceted skill set, and steady
growth as a two-way force, Mobley has become a foundational piece of the Cavaliers’ success.
Since being selected third overall in the 2021 NBA Draft, he has earned league-wide recognition for his versatility, rim protection and ability to elevate his team on both ends of the floor. Mobley’s nomination for Professional Athlete of the Year highlights not only his individual excellence but also his role in helping propel Cleveland’s rise in the Eastern Conference.
Cleveland Guardians third baseman José Ramírez has also been nominated. A nominee for the Cleveland Browns will be announced soon. Fans will decide the winner when voting opens later this
year.
The 26th Greater Cleveland Sports Awards will feature appearances by local and national sports figures, live entertainment, and highlights of the region’s most memorable sports moments from the past year. More information will be announced soon.
