2026-2027 Associate Board Application for Membership

The Associate Board helps Greater Cleveland Sports Commission (GCSC) achieve its mission to measurably improve the economy of Greater Cleveland and enrich the community by attracting, creating, managing, and enhancing significant sporting and competitive events.

MISSION & CORE VALUES

We are looking for folks who are passionate about the mission of the Sports Commission and who are enthusiastic about making and maintaining relationships through their A-Board experience. Most Associate Board members are mid-career professionals with 3-10 years of experience. Most have had some civic involvement in the past and are looking to grow their experience, exposure and involvement in the nonprofit realm.

Applicants must understand that the submission of an application does not guarantee membership to the Associate Board. New members will be selected by the current Associate Board Executive Committee based on the number of spots available and the applicant’s application responses, resume, letters of recommendation, and/or interview. This is a competitive process and space is limited. Not all applicants will be accepted, and we encourage applicants who are not selected to re-apply in the future.

All Associate Board members are required to pay annual dues, which are typically $1,200. Nonprofit members are entitled to a reduced rate. However, we understand that circumstances vary, and we don’t want one’s ability to pay dues to be a barrier to participation. If you’d like to request a reduction in dues, please complete the optional Scholarship Request section below. Scholarship requests will be evaluated separately from membership applications so your request for scholarship will not affect your evaluation as a potential member.

Applicants may be invited to an in-person interview with members of the Associate Board Executive Committee. Interviews will take place on September 9 & September 10 at the Sports Commission office (334 Euclid Avenue, Cleveland, OH) after 5pm. Please hold the dates.

Applicants will be notified about their status by mid-October, and the two-year term for new members will begin November 1. An orientation for new members will be held.

All applicants must submit this application, along with a current resume and two professional letters of recommendation to be considered. Partial or incomplete applications will not be considered.
